2009/02/24, Working in the Cloud
From Google App Engine's Blog:
App Engine apps can now receive requests and send responses of up to 10MB in size, and users can upload 10MB code and static files as well.
As you might have noticed, Mindverse's web site runs completely on App Engine. The reason for this is two-fold: they provide an excellent, and developer-friendly API; but more importantly, the access delay is really low, even from Europe. But since the main binary for Mindverse was around 1.2MB, so far it had to be distributed from another location -and access for that server was, let's just say, less than optimal.
Now, with increased capacity, finally we can distribute it directly from App Engine; and by doing so, we hope to provide you with a better experience, regardless of your location.
2009/02/23, First beta out!
In the spirit of release early/release often, we have decided to launch an initial beta release of Mindverse Desktop Search. This beta is currently targeted for early adopters only; by launching it, we hope to get some early feedback on the current state, and general direction of the software.
Get Mindverse now and send your feedback using our feedback forum!
2009/02/20, About Charles M.
In my day job, I am a software developer at Mindverse. We sell desktop search tools for end-users, and small companies to help them come over the "data overflow". Over the next few months, I plan to write several articles about personal productivity, and the hardships of software development. I hope you join the ride!
